Alerts and reports

Goal alerts by email, Slack and Discord, traffic spike alerts and the weekly email report.

Goal alerts

A goal alert emails your team the moment a visitor completes a goal, with who they are and where they came from. Payments count as a goal named payment, so you can be told about every sale.

  1. 1

Open Settings → Alerts and click New alert.

  2. 2

Under When this happens, pick one or more goals. Goals your site sent in the last 60 days are suggested; you can also type a name.

  3. 3

Write the email. The subject and message can use variables (below) and the message supports simple Markdown: bold, italic, code, links and lists.

  4. 4

Optionally add a Slack or Discord webhook (below). Click Send test to email yourself a sample, then Create alert.

Slack and Discord

Under Also post to Slack or Discord, paste an incoming webhook URL. The alert is then posted there too, as plain text.

  • Slack: create an incoming webhook for your channel in your Slack app settings. The URL starts with https://hooks.slack.com/services/.
  • Discord: in the channel's Edit Channel → Integrations → Webhooks, create a webhook and copy its URL. It starts with https://discord.com/api/webhooks/.

Other URLs are rejected. The URL is stored encrypted. Send test only emails you; it never posts to the webhook.

Who gets alerts, and limits

  • Alerts go to the site's owners and members (not viewers), unless they turned off Goal alerts in their reports settings.
  • The same alert fires at most once per visitor and goal every 10 minutes.
  • A site can send 100 alerts per calendar month by default. Owners can change the cap (1 to 10,000) by clicking the number in the meter. When the cap is reached, alerts resume next month.
  • Up to 50 alerts per site, each with up to 20 goals.

Weekly summary

Every Monday at 8:00 in the site's timezone, Trakily emails a summary of the last 7 days compared with the 7 before: visitors, revenue and conversion, a daily chart, and your top 5 sources, pages and countries.

Turn it on or off in Settings → Reports. These settings are personal: each teammate, including viewers, chooses their own, and the weekly summary is on by default. Email me this week's summary now sends one straight away.

Traffic spike alerts

Also in Settings → Reports. Every 15 minutes Trakily compares the unique visitors of the last hour with the same hour on each of the previous four weeks. If the last hour brings at least 3× the usual traffic and 30 or more visitors, you get an email naming the source driving it. At most one spike email per site every 6 hours.

Search health emails

If Google Search Console is connected, Trakily also emails once when your organic search traffic enters a drop.
