Filters
Narrow every number on the dashboard to a source, page, country, device or goal.
Adding a filter
Click any row in a breakdown card (or in its View all table), a country on the map, or a channel in the Revenue metrics card. The whole dashboard updates: chart, metrics, every card. The filter appears as a chip such as Referrer is news.ycombinator.com.
For more control, click Filter in the toolbar: pick a dimension, an operator and a value (suggestions come from the current breakdown). Click a chip to change its operator or value.
Filters combine: add a channel and a country to see that channel in that country. A dimension holds one filter per operator, so clicking another value of the same dimension replaces its is filter, while for example Page contains /blog and Page is not /blog/archive can be active together. Remove a filter with its ×, or click Clear all.
Operators
| Operator | Matches |
|---|---|
| is | Exactly this value (the default when you click a row). |
| is not | Anything but this value. |
| contains | Values containing the text, ignoring case. For countries it also matches the country name, so “contains united” finds the US and the UK. |
| does not contain | Values that don't contain the text, ignoring case. |

For Page, Hostname and Exit link, is not and does not contain keep sessions that never had a matching event: “Page is not /pricing” means sessions that didn't view /pricing.
Shareable links
The date range, granularity, period offset and filters are kept in the address bar, for example ?range=7d&f=country!:US&f=page~:/blog. Bookmark a view or send the link to a teammate, and the browser's back and forward buttons step through your changes. The same works on public share links.
In the link, f=dimension:value means “is”, dimension!:value “is not”, dimension~:value “contains” and dimension!~:value “does not contain”. The Stats API reads filter parameters the same way.

Keywords from Search Console can't be used as filters: Google doesn't link searches to individual visits.
Things to know
- Filters reset when you switch sites with the site switcher.
- Data imported from Google Analytics or Plausible is stored per dimension, so it's included only when every filter is on one imported dimension (and a page filter is is). Otherwise it's left out and the chart says so. See imported data on the dashboard.
- The Revenue metrics card only follows Channel, Referrer and Country filters, applied to each customer's first touch.
- On the Ads card, filters apply to visits and revenue but not to ad spend.
