Google Analytics 4 import
Import your history from Google Analytics 4 so your charts don't start at zero.
Bring your Google Analytics 4 history into Trakily so charts and breakdowns aren't empty on day one. Imported days stop where Trakily's own data starts, so nothing is counted twice.
Import
- 1
Open Settings → Integrations → Import and click Connect Google Analytics.
- 2
Sign in with a Google account that can read the GA4 property and allow read-only access.
- 3
Search for your property and click Import this property.
- 4
The import runs in the background, newest months first, about one month every few minutes. You can leave the page; a progress bar shows how far it is.
What's imported
Daily visitors, sessions, pageviews, bounces and engagement time, broken down by:
channel, referrer, campaign, entry page, page, country, region, city, browser, operating system and device.
Hourly totals by channel and referrer are imported too, for hourly charts. GA4 channel and source names are mapped onto Trakily's, so “Organic Social” becomes Social and “google” becomes www.google.com.
Revenue, goals and conversions aren't imported, because GA4 can't tell which visitor paid. Revenue in Trakily starts from your payment provider, which imports its own full history.
Date range
- Up to 2 years back, but never before the GA4 property was created.
- The import ends the day before the first Trakily event for the site (or yesterday, if there are none yet).
- If you also import from Plausible, Plausible data is used for days both cover. Only one source is used per day.
On the dashboard
Imported visitors, bounce rate and session time are added to totals, the chart and breakdowns, and the chart notes Includes Google Analytics traffic until …. Revenue, conversions and goals are Trakily-only. The All time range reaches back to the start of imported data.
Imported data is stored per day for one dimension at a time, so it can't be split by every filter:
- Filters on a single dimension (channel, referrer, campaign, entry page, country, region, city, browser, OS or device, with any operator, or Page is) include the imported rows that match: totals, the chart and that dimension's breakdown. Other breakdowns show Trakily data only and say so. A page filter adds imported visitors only, since imported page rows have no bounces or session times.
- Anything else (filters on two dimensions, hostname or exit link filters, other page operators, or hourly charts for dimensions without hourly imports) leaves imported data out, and the chart says Imported Google Analytics data isn't included with these filters.
- The previous period used for the change percentages follows the same rule.
Re-import, delete, disconnect
- Re-import clears the imported rows and imports again.
- Delete imported data (click twice to confirm) removes it and keeps the connection.
- Disconnect revokes access and deletes imported data.
- If Google's quota is reached, the import pauses for a few minutes and resumes by itself.
