Outbound links
How Trakily records clicks on links to other websites, automatically.
Automatic, no setup
When a visitor clicks a link to another website, the script records an outbound link event with the link's URL and text (each cut at 255 characters). There is nothing to install: it works for every <a href> on your pages, including links added later.
Keyboard activation (Enter on a focused link) counts too.
What counts as outbound
- Only
http:andhttps:links.mailto:,tel:and JavaScript links are ignored. - Links to the same hostname are internal navigation, not outbound.
- Links to your own domain, its subdomains, and hostnames listed in
data-allowed-hostnamesare not outbound. Instead, the script adds visitor ids to them so the visitor stays the same person (see Cross-domain tracking).
Where to see them
Open the Exit link tab of the Pages card. Click a row to filter the whole dashboard to sessions that clicked that link.
